This book is an analysis of Nietzsche's theories of art, a unique attempt at clarifying the Nietzschean history of art in terms of decadent-democratic epochs. Ludovici MBE (1882 -1971) was a British philosopher, sociologist, social critic and polyglot. He is best known as a leading British conservative author of the early 20th century. The son and grandson of painters, and a talented amateur himself, Ludovici championed representational art stressing human beauty. He wrote on subjects including art, metaphysics, politics, economics, religion, the differences between the sexes, race, health, and eugenics. He began his career as an artist, painting and illustrating books. He was private secretary to sculptor Rodin. Ludovici also became a student of Dr. Oscar Levy, editor of The Complete Works of Friedrich Nietzsche, the first translation of Nietzsche's works in English, to which Ludovici contributed several volumes. In Nietzsche and Art, the Author offers the Reader unique insights not only into Nietzsche's philosophy but also into art theory in general.
